Talk and discussion by David Hilmer Rex
Vesterbrogade 204A. Walk through the gate between 204 and 202. On your left you will see the building in the backyard. Call me at 30271851 in case you can not find it.

The talk will concern:

1. Art as Infrastructure
A modal shift in the profession of fine arts from operating within givens/standards (e.g. history, image, time, subject, object, ethics, institution, public, private, economy, work of art, artist, politics, audience, authorship, knowledge, sculpture, painting, etc.) towards strategically reckoning with how one always already produce and renegotiate them as integral to a given artistic project.

2. Rhei Inc.
An introduction to Rhei Inc. Rhei is a research company founded by New York-based artist Stephen Lichty in 2010. I joined Rhei in late-2012 and has since been involved with development on all levels of the project. We will present our work at the Ethnographic Practice in Industry Conference in London this September. The coming year I will teach a course in Arts Management (BA-level) and Arts Management & Cultural Entrepreneurship (MA-level) at Copenhagen Business School. This course will take its cue in my work with Rhei, as well questions around how artistic practice in its professionalized and democratised form may inform decision-making processes beyond the infrastructure of late-modern/contemporary art.

Rasmus Røhling is a Danish artist and writer with an MFA from California institute of the Arts, Los Angeles. He has recently shown works at Culturgest, Lisbon, Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Basel, Inter Arts Center Malmø and Den Frie Centre of Contempory Art, Copenhagen.

David Hilmer Rex is a Copenhagen-based artist and researcher. He holds an MFA from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Visual Art. Current research is focused on questions around how artistic practice in its professionalized and democratised form may inform decision-making processes beyond the infrastructure of late-modern/contemporary art.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Danish Arts Council Committee for Visual Arts.
